Sitting here this evening in my home. I took a nap falling asleep while it was daytime but awoke to darkness with the curtains still drawn open. This twilight effect always throws me for the rest of the day, especially in the winter time when the night falls so early. So ofcourse even after a 2 hour nap, awakening in the dark, it was only 6:30pm! I've been kind of sitting around in a silence since but finally meandering to the computer I went to my faithful backup form of entertainment...music. I had a pretty mellow station on and suddenly heard a song I hadn't heard in years. The kind of song I loved when it came out but somehow completely forgot existed. It got me wanting to listen to some other songs I haven't heard in years which lead me to listen to a lot of songs coming from the same era in my Life...late middle and high school. This was a very confusing time in my Life that I've blocked out almost entirely, as such I'd forgotten a lot of great tunes as well. Some however have always endured because they are often overlooked but eternally great songs. So I've decided to take a dive into throwback from my formative years in school and here's a list of the ones I've chosen to lend my ears to.
This being the track I heard on Pandora that starting this daisy chain of songs tonight...
Definitely one of the most enduring songs that seem to pop up in my Life just when I need to hear it most...
And those which seem to sum up my generation...
"Not even GOD takes this long to get back"
Oh Fiona...your crazy ass had me from the get go. Meow!
Because who doesn't feel better after listening to this song? Seriously, it's pure happy!!!
"You feel straight but you knock on wood."
"OooooOOOOOooooooooOOOOoooooooooooh"
Funny did not know what a reacharound was when this band came out hahaha!!
"I'm plowed into the ground."
Not a lot of people's but my favorite Elastica song.
"I like my sugar with coffee and cream!"
Truly I didn't think they'd top Ill Communication and yet......rip MCA.
Always thought this video looked like so much fun to make.
These guys were just smooth and who doesn't love Tarantino samples in their tracks?
Oh the list could go on and on and on. No really I am listening to these songs as I post them. I do this from time to time...the Life of a chosen introvert. But I don't mind sharing this really because I truly would be doing this anyways. It's time I think for a shower where I will listen to some more Pandora radio but that's for me and not for you. And in case I don't see you, good afternoon, evening and good night. (but that's another blog. ;)
